Stream of consciousness

Stream of Consciousness created after my father’s passing— when creating this I also thought of my time as a choreographer and what happens to the brain during the creative process– for me so much goes on and I wanted to do something that brought a sense of mystery and whimsy.

when writing this new story of a girl who needs to be trained to pass 4 tests so that she can release her father and mother to become the sun and the moon–I think of this work and what it entails to muddle through your stream of consciousness to get to the actual work.

Tomorrow I will add more of the story with my Tea and Writing time…until then hope you find this dance work interesting

Unbound 1990

I choreographed this dance to honor my love of books. At the time I was working in an Antique Book store selling 17th & 18th century English Literature. Thanks to my boss, Stephen Weissman, I was given permission to use the books that were not sellable. Their backs or spines were torn or pages missing and some of them were “unbound.” The title refers to the feeling of not being complete human beings, we are constantly searching. My love of books goes way way back and so it was inevitable that I marry a writer.

I hope people who view this respond well to it.

The space is the old Cunningham Space in NYC (it no longer exists) and the dancers are: Carol Dilley, Ed Tyler (no longer with us), Michael Foley, Katiti King, Rise Karns, Ted Johnson, Robin Goldfin, and Julie Tarrantino

The year 1990, 23 years ago my life was very different.
